Frequently Asked Questions

My watch already gives me a VO2 max score. Why should I do this test?

Smartwatches estimate VO2 max using heart rate, pace, and movement data. These estimates are based on algorithms and can change depending on the workout type, terrain, heart-rate accuracy, and device settings.

Our test directly measures the oxygen you breathe in and the carbon dioxide you breathe out during exercise using a metabolic analyzer. This provides your true VO2 max, not an estimate.

Do I need to be in great shape to take the test?

No. The test works for all fitness levels, from beginners to experienced athletes.

What equipment is used?

You will wear a metabolic mask connected to a gas analyzer, which measures the oxygen you consume and the carbon dioxide you produce while exercising.

How long does the appointment take?

Plan for about 30 minutes total, including setup, the test itself, and a quick review of your results.
